A few days ago I was trying to figure out how to hide the X cursor, and
I ran across this post on slashdot:

The solution I used is about halfway down the page; just search for
"xsetroot" and you'll jump right to it. Make sure to read the correction
right afterward, too (the .xbm files are transposed in the xsetroot
command).
