[MPlayer-users] -slave and serial port

I am trying to control the MPlayer from a serial port using the -slave 
option and do not have clearly if I must write a program (in C? or 
PERL?) that the reads serial port or if I can do it directly from the 
command line using any type of redirection.

(I am a beginner in Linux and even I do not know that possibilities I 
have...)

Any sugestion???
