[MPlayer-users] How to add new codecs

I have installed mplayer but couldn't play my wmv
movie. I got the message:

Could not open the required DirectShow codec
'wmvdmod.dll'

I have therfore downloaded extralite.tar.bz2. After
unpacking I saw the required codec there. However, I
don't know how to point the mplayer to the extralite
directory so that it could see this codec. Please
help.
