first of all: many many thanks to everybody who worked on creating
mplayer ... it's awesome!!! Before it I didn't really think linux movie
seeing was possible .. now I know it can be done with class :) Thanks!!

I've got this little problem: I'd like to have all my tools
integrated into a file manager (probably xnc), like I had in windows
with Windows Commander (I'm in a process of attempting a complete move
to linux ;P ) ... so, with xnc I can associate file types with commands
... what I'd like then would be to run mplayer whenever I acess an avi
for example. So I guessed the command would be:

"gmplayer -quiet -nofs file.avi &" ... but the problem is that when the
player goes into the background weird things happen: the window isn't
refreshed anymore .. or at one time keypresses in the console lead to
player actions ... what should I do to start it cleanly in the
background (maybe without it even writign to the background console?

Thank you in advance for the help,

PS: be somewhat mercifull with me please as I'm still a rather linux baby :)
PS2: since I didn't subscribe to the mailing list or anything (I don't
know how, I just got this email from the man) .. I don't know if I'll be
getting the replies to this post. In case the list needs subscription,
please somebody mail me & tell me how and maybe until I do you could
send CCs of the replies to me personally, please?
