Hello,

Mandrake 9.1
MPlayer 0.90
All-In-Wonder VE

I am attempting to record programming from my digl cable box. I have the
composite A/V going out from the digital box to the composite Video on the VE
Wonder, and the audio into the sound card.

bttv module is loaded witht he following command:

modprobe bttv tuner=8

(I have also tried tuner=0 and tuner=1)

Here is my mencoder line:

mencoder -tv
on:driver=v4l:input=1:norm=NTSC:width=640:height=480:outfmt=yv12:audiorate=44100:buffersize=128
-ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg1video:vbitrate=1500:keyint=30 -oac=mp3lame
-lameopts br=128:cbr:mode=3 -endpos 00:05:00 -o
"/media/video/recorded/tes.mpg"

Problem is, instead of a video bitrate of 1500 kbit/s, mencoder reports that
the video is (approx.) 50 kbit/s (audio is fine).

If I change the input=1 (composite1) to input=0 (Television), I get the video
at the proper bitrate, but the video is all green.

Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

TIA,

Alan Murrell <alanm at vcn.bc.ca>
