[MPlayer-users] turn off cursor

I run mplayer from a ssh shell and use -vo fbdev to direct the movie to the local display. it gets rid of the text that is
currently on it, but the cursor still blinks over the movie.

This will turn it off:
#setterm -cursor off
But I have to log in and run it locally. - is there some way to do it from the remote shell?

Same for #setterm -blank 0 - If I don't do that, the screen saver kicks in and turns off the monitor while I am watching the movie.
