You did build against "cdparanoia"? As in:

    #  ldd /usr/mm/bin/mplayer | grep cdd
         -lcdda_interface.0 => /usr/mm/lib/libcdda_interface.so.0
         -lcdda_paranoia.0 => /usr/mm/lib/libcdda_paranoia.so.0
