Arpi,

I did think about something like this a couple of days ago and so I tried the 
command

wget -O- {URL} | mplayer -stdin    or something like that 

Worked for simple files, but reference videos bombed out, so I didn't look 
into that anymore.

mplayer tried to get the referenced files from the local disk.
