as mplayer syncronizes video to the audio (using soundcard's timer
as reference clock instead of system time, to get perfect sync even with
soundcards with inaccurate clock/rate)
(xine and avifile uses system clock as reference)

but unfortunatelly many (too many) sound drivers (esp. the free oss drivers)
are broken, they don't or badly implement the sync API (GETODELAY etc),
causing bad or jerky playback with mplayer. the commercial oss drivers
and oss emulation of alsa 0.9x are ok.

you can try -autosync 100 to workaround it...
