[MPlayer-users] Converting WMV to smaller file

I wanted to get input on best settings to get a 92MB WMV 640:480 file
down to something manageable on our WAN. It's a CNN clip of one of our
GMs talking and we only got a WMV that is 92MB. I used:

mencoder -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg4:vbitrate=2500:vhq -ovc lavc -oac mp3lame
 -lameopts br=72 ./uno.wmv -vop scale=320:250 -o
/home/fmedina/temp/uno2.avi

The result was this:

Writing AVI index...
Fixing AVI header...

Video stream: 76.830 kbit/s (9603 bps) size: 3696457 bytes 384.898
secs 11549 frames

Audio stream: 110.664 kbit/s (13833 bps) size: 5331405 bytes 385.411
secs

How do increase video quality a bit and decrease audio quality a bit...
seems like br=72 did nothing...

Also, audio and video are slightly off, nothing super nasty, but just
wondering what I might try.

thanks,
