[MPlayer-users] MPlayer feature question/suggestion

Hi,
I like a lot the recent MPlayer "menu" feature and I wonder if it is 
planned to add the possibility to access the menu even while MPlayer is 
playing audio files.
For example, would it be possible to MPlayer to "pretend" considering 
audio files as video files with a constant totally black video? It would 
be also nice to have this feature on when running MPlayer on a console, 
so that it could be possible to run "mplayer" with no input file [the 
same way "gmplayer" is run] and choose the file(s) to play through the menu.
Are this features already taken in cosideration?
If not, is there any hope some of the developers would take charge of it?
BTW, is anybody taking care of the menu development lately?
