[MPlayer-users] no video out

I'm running redhat 8 (kernel 2.4.18-19.8.0) on a sony vaio laptop 
(PCG-FXA47).  for some reason, I cannot get mplayer to export the video of 
any movie (I have tried avi or mpg format), although I get audio just fine.  
the VO is for some reason coming up as null (which of course explains the 
outcome), but I cannot under any circumstances get it to work.  below is the 
output when I attempt to play the movie - any help would be appreciated...
