The "open-source" thing was all a publicity stunt for Real. What do
you expect with a company that's based on proprietary lockouts and
spyware? The code they released is absolutely 100% useless.

Anyway, Real's RTSP uses some sort of cryptographic challenge-response
deal to prevent 'unauthorized' players from connecting to their
servers. So in order to make it work someone needs to reverse engineer
their client and get the necessary keys or else find a weakness in the
algorithm used.
