The patch that broke it was committed on Sun Nov 23 13:35:55 2003 UTC.  
If your version is older, it works fine.

live.com have nothing to do with Realmedia rtsp support, it's used for  
standard rtsp urls. Realmedia rtsp support is built into MPlayer, and  
used if file extension is rm or ra.
