[MPlayer-users] [BUG] mplayer 1.0preX freezes

if i play any mpeg of decent length, mplayer 1.0preX freezes.  i've tried pre2 
and pre3.  when i kill the pid, it says something like "signal 15 caught in 
module: video decoder".  the problem does not occur in mplayer-0.92.

when i say freeze, i mean the video image doesn't change and if i move a 
window over it and then move the window away, the screen is blank.  and it 
doesn't respond to input.

compiled on:
athlon xp 1800
gigabyte ga-7vrx
redhat 9
gcc 3.2.2
