Because with only 25 FPS you get strongly motion-blurred images from fast 
scenes.

Just record soccer or Formel-1 with 25Hz and "pp=md" and with "tfields=2  
-fps 50 -ofps 50". The latter will look much more smoth.

25fps is enough if you only do slow camera movements and use ~1/25s 
exposure time (for the motion blur).
