I'm saying that AFAIK, mplayer lacks the ability to capture audio from 
one device and play it on another. It also lacks the ability to record 
audio and video together; that's what mencoder is for. Mplayer can't 
record and mencoder can't play, so if you want to both things, you'll 
have to use both of them. There are other tools that may be more 
appropriate.
