I had the same problem, so I ran MPlayer with -v to see what was going on. 
Turns out that the trailer uses the FAAD codec for audio and I had never 
bothered to compile it. I got it from faac.sourceforge.net (not a typo) - get 
and build FAAD2 and then recompile MPlayer - it should detect faad and use it 
automagically.
