you DON'T have to specify your own modelines it's done by xf86config
(or other config tools) automatically, based on the V/H-refresh-rates
of your monitor and your graphic card. if you specify none or wrong
modlines X falls back to some default builtins, but these aren't the
best (highest). writing your own modelines is only needed if you want
to get out the 'best' of your graca/monitor or if you want to
configure a very special setup like your tv as monitor.

something like modelines are also specyfied in ms-win in the monitor.infs.
