[MPlayer-users] 0.90pre7 test.avi: error writing file

I'm using mencoder to capture video from my tv card using xvid/divx4 and with 
pre7 I get the following error:
test.avi: error writing file.

Some other strange behavior is that it did work for a few tries after I copied 
the etc/codecs.conf to ~/.mplayer again.  But stopped.  After trying to copy 
the file again and retry mencoder failed with the same error.  One thing that 
I did notice the couple times that it did start capturing, the bit rate was 
absurdly high ~2000Kb, when with previous versions it would be ~800Kb.  The 
video that was produced was distorted.
I saw a similar email in the archive, but no one replied.

I'm using:
4.7-PRERELEASE FreeBSD
