[MPlayer-users] hwac3 with two channel AC3?

Hi,
I recently got some divxes with AC3 stereo sound and thought I could
use hwac3 with it as vobs work ok. However, mplayer says "Can't find
codec for audio format 0x55 !" and doesn't play sound then.
So, if I add format 0x55 to hwac3 section in codecs.conf, I got about
half of them working. With the others I get a lot of CRC errors but no
sound. The amplifier I have connected (Sony STR-DE445) seems to get
something, no sound, but the DD 5.1 light goes off and on and various
channel indicators activate in turn. It seems the bitstream is at least
in the ballpark :) Software decoding works fine for these files. I
included the mplayer -v output of one of these files below.
Soundcard is CM8738 based, with Linux 2.4.19-ac4 kernel drivers.
Is this a known problem? Should I upload a smaple?
