ffpmeg is adding some altivec optimization to libavcodec as now ; but
without, i don't think you can say "slow as hell": I'm able to watch
640x480 divx films with a 333MHz G3, using Quicktime and other MacOS softs
I was only able to watch divx slideshows ;-)
