Hi all,
i've two problems: one is a segfault of mencoder and two is: anyone could
give me a suggestion to buy a good video card with dual head and tv-out
(im very sorry for this ot question but i dont really know whom to ask)?

i'm trying to encode an old movie from vob files with the following

cat DVDVOLUME1-*|mencoder -o scanner.divx -oac copy -npp lb -ovc lavc
-lavcopts vcodec=mpeg4:vbitrate=1070:vpass=1 -sws 2 -ss 00:00 -endpos
00:40 - && cat DVDVOLUME1-*|mencoder -o scanner.divx -oac copy -ovc lavc
-lavcopts vcodec=mpeg4:vbitrate=1070:vpass=2 -npp lb -sws 2 -ss 00:00
-endpos 00:40 -

but i get a segfault in the second pass..

Writing AVI header...
VDec: vo config request - 720 x 576 (preferred csp: Planar YV12)
[PP] Using external postprocessing filter, max q = 6
Movie-Aspect is 1.33:1 - prescaling to correct movie aspect.
videocodec: libavcodec (720x576 fourcc=58564944 [DIVX])
lavc_stats.txt is damaged
could not open codec
FATAL: Cannot initialize video driver!
init_vo failed
Segmentation fault

but without cat in the command line i've no problem.
anyway i'd like to use cat because i've two vob files and i want only
one divx as output.
Otherwise is there a utility to merge two divx ?
i tryed avicat and avimerge but i've got some problems with audio
N.B.: the movie has interlaced frames and i can see a lot
of skip frames during the encoding.

Im sorry for the ot, but i've to buy a video card (now i've an old
matrox mystique) with dual head plus tv-out (then crt+crt or crt+tv).
The latest matrox g550 hasnt the support for tv-out and the nvidia cards
has closed sources. Then anyone could give any hints to buy a good card
i've read in the mplayer doc that nvidia chips are not good to playing
movies, is the same concept valid for the latest gf4 ?
lots of thanks.
