Hi,
I've downloaded the latest MPlayer 0.9pre9, I used pre6 before.
Installation went fine, the new version is great.

However, I noticed a problem in the gui. After installation I wasn't
able to start playing any movie, MPlayer just froze and I had to kill
it. I found out that deleting the old configuration file gui.conf
helped, now mplayer started playing all movies.

But now I tried to change the audio ouput from the default oss to alsa
or arts. In both cases mplayer froze again when trying to play a video.
I had a look on gui.conf again and this time I deleted all existing ao_*
lines and only added "ao_driver = "arts"". This way I was able to use
arts output.

Only adding the ao_driver line dosn't work, you realy have to delete the
other ao_ lines, but I wasn't able to track down which of these
directives causes the problem in the end.

I hope I can help you with this bug report. If you need more information
or testing to solve the problem just write me.

MPlayer is the very best media player out there, keep up the good work.
