[MPlayer-users] mtrr-setup fails on half way - "no size=" although given

hello all,

i built a "standalone player" based on some left hardware: a tnt2
chipset-driven grafic card and an amd k6 400 running under redhat 8.0
using frambuffer-device (and tv-out).

all far from ideal but it works, though cpu-usage comes into critical
regions sometimes and playback becomes a little jerky.

as far as i understand, there is no way to use vidix with tnt2 chipsets
(or?) and i tried to set up at least mtrr correctly. when i
echo "base=dc000000 size=0x2000000 type=write-combining" >| /proc/mtrr
i get
no "size=" in line: "base=dc000000 size=0x2000000 type=write-combining"

when i leave out "base=..." i get the same message but with no "base..."
so it takes the base setting but fails when it comes to size

i also tried leaving the | out as seen elsewhere but same result.

can anybody help?

regards

/jc
