actually it's also an mplayer prob - it maybe eats mor ememory than needed.
first, get CVS version, i've fixed some silly memleaks yesterday.
next, if you have problems with mpegs, decrease the prebuffer limits at
the beginning of demuxer.h
note: it may break dvd playback, some disc require really big buffers.
