[MPlayer-users] Framebuffer instead of X

I'm trying to play divx files under redhat 7.3. It works well under
gnome, but the frame rate is not acceptable. I think that writing to the
frame buffer will produce a better result.
 
However I can't get this to work, an it results in an error.
 
What is the best way to get this to work?
