Those are the dark ages!  I think, based on a previous post I sent,
that I have MMX MMX2 and a whole slew of other stuff.  My cpu was not
out yet.

which is my orignal post.  It gives my system config, what I'm
running, &c.

(The short answer is dual AMD Athlon MP 1500+ CPUs.)

The ./configure scipt is finding these correctly (from
/proc/cpuinfo I believe) but then setting things up (march= , mcpu=)
for an `athlon-xp'.  Since I read in the docs over and over again not
to change anything that the configure script sets up I've not changed
this.  (Well I did in one of my compilation tries.  It made no
difference!)
