[MPlayer-users] rapid A/V sync loss

When playing "Return of the Killer Tomatoes" the A-V statistic
continually increases. By the time the movie has played for 30 or
40 seconds the A-V column is up to 1 second or more. Ogle plays
	the movie fine (reports 23.97fps).

What could cause MPlayer to lose A/V sync so quickly - the system
is a (dual) 800Mhz P-III and has played many DVDs without problem
before. Has something changed recently that might cause this?

I did try "-fps 23.976" and that did not change the A/V sync.

The log of 'mplayer -v -v' is attached (gzip'd to save space)
