[MPlayer-users] libraries problem

hi,

this has little to do with mplayer, but i don't know where to ask :-)

i'm using mandrake82 ( + mandrake cooker updates ),
SDL1.2-1.2.3 ( i know there's 1.2.4, but i don't like it)

when i've run ./configure it didn't detect SDL.
so i opened configure.log..

/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lartsc

actually libartsc.so is there, but it's in /opt/kde3/lib....
i solved the problem with creating a symlink from
/opt/kde3/lib/libartsc.so to /usr/lib/libartsc.so..

i understand why mandrake chose to put those files in /opt/kde3...
what i want to know is that is there a way to tell ./configure to look
for .so files in other places too?

thanks,
gabor
