[MPlayer-users] No user/password support for streams?

When I try to view a video-file remotely over HTTP that requires 
user/password authentication I get this response:

Server returned 401: Authorization Required

I cannot find any way to send my user/password authentication information via 
mplayer, not even through sending it via the URL like this: 

http://user:pass@hostname.tld/path/to/file.avi

Just thought you might wanted to know in case you weren't aware of it...
