[MPlayer-users] using mencoder to concatenate multiple video "chunks" into one large file?

Hi,

The subject line pretty much says it all -- can I use mencoder to 
re-encode multiple small AVI/MPEG files into one large divx file? 
Searching the documentation (man pages and website) and looking around 
the mailing list hasn't given me any clues, sorry.

The closest I've come is using cat with a bunch of files, but then the 
sound disappears.  If anyone has any tips on how to do this I'd really 
appreciate it.
