     You're doing pass 1, AFAIK divx2pass.log will be created in the 
current directory, your NTFS partition is probably mounted read-only 
so that is not possible.  Maybe that is the source of the problem.

    Run mencoder from the destination directory and use an absolute 
path to your capture.avi instead.  Hope that helps.
