Wow, great work, thanks, I think I'll point those n00bs to this page :)
Just some little remarks (I'm quite an asshole when it comes to
critizicing (sp?) a webpage, so don't take this negatively... :)
*) Maybe you want to set the BGCOLOR to white and the TEXT to black.
I imagine the page looks awful for people who have set their
browser to bright-text-on-dark-bg
*) Maybe sb. can find out how to start a terminal under KDE (defintely
not me, /me not uses KDE :)
*) I think it would be nice to make a subdir for MPlayer, e.g. ~/MPlayer/,
so the dirs don't clobber the $HOME (and confuse our poor user...)
*) Most likely (esp. when using --enable-gui), some lib*-dev will be
missing. So you should tell the reader that he should respond to
a message like "GTK 1.2+ not found" by installing libgtk1.2-dev
*) _Packages_! Don't ask a newbie to compile gcc!
He should up/downgrade his gcc using the available packages.
(dependency hell? Wrong distro :). no, really: Just look up,
what depend's are broken, and make a list of all packages which
have to be up/downgraded. I think it's easier (for the newbie)
to install some packages...)
hth, and thanks again,
