[MPlayer-users] FreeBSD tv card -> divx capture

I have been using an old version of mencoder with the bsdbt848 tv capture
since febuary. This old version works fine no A/V sync issues on my 650Mhz
Duron. I've been trying to get a newer version of mplayer to work correctly,
but I keep running into a strange problem with the newer versions. The cpu
usage for mencoder slowly continues to drop over to period that I am
recording until it is around 5%-10% cpu usage. Nothing else is running and
during this time the recorded video starts skipping. I can seem to work
around this problem, by specifying the -fps flag to mencoder:
./mencoder -tv
on:driver=bsdbt848:norm=ntsc:width=320:height=240:input=1:chanlist=us-bcast:channel=13
-lameopt br=64:cbr -divx4opts q=1 -fps 30
But this causes A/V sync issues a few minutes into the recording, but the cpu
utilization hovers around 80% so it doesn't seem that my cpu can't keep up.
Like I said before it worked fine with the 6 month old verison of mencoder.
I have tried various different CVS snapshots and pre-releases all with
different compile options etc and still have this problem with the newer
versions since Febuary.
Any suggestions?
