Maybe it would be better if it stopped completely with only the invalid option error, and said to check ./configure --help before trying again.
f.e.: "You have specified an invalid/unknown option "<option>". Please check ./configure --help for the correct options and try again."

Comments? Is this a good or bad way of doing it, kind of like the bad gcc version thing, could also make it so you have to type 'yes' or 'no' to continue, etc. Just to let them know up-front the option they are trying is not correct.
