And you're absolutely right.

It is important that the video streams use the same codec, same frame rate and 
same resolution. Also audio needs to be in same format, sample rate and bit 
rate (and have same amount of channels of course). IIRC none of the proggies 
on linux check for this so you'll have to check them yourself before joining 
anything.
