[MPlayer-users] avi's play, tv card not

The Pinnacle PCTV card i have plays fine in xawtv. ive
 installed, compiled mplayer and done lots of rtfm and work.
 avi's play fine. i just want to know if this syntax is fine,
 ill 

mplayer -tv
 on:driver=v41:width=640:height=480:outfmt=i420:norm=NTSC:chanlist=us-cable:channel=9
 -vc rawi420 -vo xv

the main error that is bugging me is "Tuner isn't capable to
 set norm!"

is this a terminal error and therefore could be the cause of
 the problem? 

when i remove some of the options, a tv screen flashes for an
 instant and i get lots of errors, that's one reason why im
 wondering about my syntax 

such as:
mplayer -tv
 on:driver=v41:width=640:height=480:outfmt=i420:norm=NTSC:chanlist=us-cable:channel=9

i'm trying to determine where to begin .. with the norm problem
 or the syntax?
