[MPlayer-users] Encode video from framebuffer

Is it possible to play raw rgb[15,16,24,32] from the linux framebuffer device using -vc rawrgb[15,16,24,32]?

I tried with the command:

cat /dev/fb0 | mplayer -vo whatever -ao whatever -vc rawrgb16 -

but I get error:

Playing -

Reading from stdin...

MPEG packet stats: p100: 5299  p101: 2380  PES: 0  MP3: 1

============= Sorry, this file format not recognized/supported ===============

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
