[MPlayer-users] Feature Request: Ogg encapsulation

It is well-known that the AVI file sucks. It suffers from unnecessary
synchronization problems and makes it basically impossible to use VBR
audio. It is also troublesome because of the 2 GB limit.

Anyway, the solution is to use Ogg as encapsulation format. The good
news is that there already is a library that does this. www.vorbis.com
has the source code. The idea to put DivX movies into Ogg streams is
not mine, it is currently being considered in the warez scene (and you
know something will be successful if the warez and pr0n people use it!)
;-)

There also is a DirectShow filter that makes DirectShow understand Ogg
files. I found it on www.doom9.org but I am sure it is also linked on
www.vorbis.com. Mplayer should support this! And, equally important,
mencoder should support this! Go, mplayer, go! ;)
