[MPlayer-users] vobsub won't play

Hi!

This is the second time, I try to play files with vobsub, but it doesn't
work. I say mplayer avifilename -vobsub avifilename without extension as
in the manual, I have sub, ifo, idx files in that directory with the
same name as the avi file. Mplayer says detected sub avfilename.sub, and
couldn't determine file format. Could anybody tell me what the problem
is? I attach mplayer -v. Thx.

 -nosound        don't play sound
 -stereo <mode>  select MPEG1 stereo output (0:stereo 1:left 2:right)
 -channels <n>   target number of audio output channels
 -fs -vm -zoom   fullscreen playing options (fullscr,vidmode chg,softw.scale)
 -x <x> -y <y>   scale image to <x> * <y> resolution [if -vo driver supports!]
 -sub <file>     specify subtitle file to use (see also -subfps, -subdelay)
