Since you haven't specfied the source of these RPMs, I'll assume they're
mine, in which case you should report some of these problems to me, after
reading the webpage which you found them on.

Post bechmark results, please. I have an ATI Mach64 (3D Rage Pro) and it
works for me fine (but I do have an athlon machine).

-ao sdl certainly works. Some -vc options don't because they'd require
additional packages, but you'd know that if you had read the webpage.

RTFwebpage. You need to install mplayer-vidix-0.90pre6-2.i686.rpm and
mplayer-vidix-mach64-0.90pre6-2.i686.rpm at the same time.

I think my webpage states clearly that these packages are for RH7.x.

These are irrelevant if you're using precompiled binaries.

Isn't it a bit too slow?

Where is lspci -v output?

-zoom? That's definitely too cpu-intensive for your system!
Why didn't you use 'mplayer -vo xv' (which is the default in my packages)?

Have you tried this?

Yup, video codec cpu usage is over 100% because of -zoom.
