the Xv driver for matrox is bullshit... i've recently looked at the source
and it's full of bugs and misunderstanding of the card registers.

use -vo xmga, it should work.

yes, i could fix those bugs and send patch to x11 authors, but it has no
much sense, as the Xv is broken by design, missing features like triple
buffering and direct rendering.
