[MPlayer-users] mencoder and tv recording

I have perfect play back using xine and mplayer, but
recording is all wacky, I have tried all different
-oav and -oac codecs, including 
video:
   copy
   frameno 
   rawrgb
   divx4
   lavc
   vfw
   libdv

audio:
   copy
   pcm
   mp3lame

I wonder what I can do to get it working,  I figured
out a temporary solution,  I will record a show using
xawtv and their Microsoft AVI riff format, 30min show
is 7gb and then I will convert it to divx4/mp3 by
using mencoder. (it takes it down to about 40mb) which
is amazing. (but it takes about 20 min on a dual p3
system)

Like you said, I would donate a tv card if Mplayer
devolopers could work on this.  

What would be the best way to record tv?
