[MPlayer-users] error while enocoding dvd-rips

i have been trying to compress two dvds recently, with the following
commands:

mencoder -dvd 1 -alang en -ovc copy -oac copy -o black_hawk_down.avi

mencoder black_hawk_down.avi -ovc frameno -oac mp3lame -lameopts
cbr:br=96 -o frameno.avi

mencoder black_hawk_down.avi -ovc lavc -lavcopts
vcodec=mpeg4:vbitrate=1400:vhq:vpass=1 -sws 2 -vop
scale=640:272,crop=718:360:0:58 -oac copy -o BHD-compressed.avi

(but i havnt gotten to pass 2 yet...)

when i get to pass one, i get this error:

this also happened with another movie i was trying to compress. i have
tried re-ripping the dvds, but i get the same errors.

judging by the errors, i understand that there and too many audio
packets in the buffer, but why would be a problem? maybe im missing the
point entirly, in which case im sorry, and if possible, explain and
please offer a solution.
