I'm using the driver that comes with the kernel (2.4.18), and patched
with the patch from
http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/people/rml/emu10k1/

I'll try disabling the 3dnow optimizations as Alexander suggested...
Let's see if that fixes the problems...
