[MPlayer-users] Question to -slave option

If the '-slave'-option is used commands can be sent within the 
A/V-stream piped to MPlayer.

Does this only concern the command-line commands, or is it also possible 
to use function calls of MPlayer (e.g. sending OSD-data within the 
A/V-stream)?
