[MPlayer-users] bug report -- cache + extremely noninterleaved avi file

i've uploaded a file (record_of_lodoss_war_ova_12-ni_problems.avi) to
mplayerhq ftp demonstrating a problem with cache + noninterleaved avi
files. i'm including the content of the file i wrote describing the
problem below. dunno if it's fixable, but it's worth reporting anyway
i guess.

btw, is it ok to send this kinda thing to mplayer-dev-eng instead of
users? normally i only read the devel list.

========

this file appears to be entirely noninterleaved (i.e. all the audio
first then all the video, i think). mplayer plays it perfectly fine
with cache disabled, but when the cache is enabled, mplayer reports
about 65% cpu usage in audio decoding (on my k6/2-450) making the file
unplayable. nothing appears to be wrong with the streams;
reinterleaving it with mplayer makes the problem go away. this should
probably be fixed in mplayer if there's a way to fix it without
causing too much trouble.

sorry for uploading the whole file, but since the problem is with the
lack of interleaving, i have to upload quite a bit before it's even
viewable at all, and i figure having the original index might be
helpful in debugging too.
