[Mplayer-users] Newbie question

Hello

I have compiled and installed MPlayer on Slackware 8. It has OSS sound driver. 
I am trying to start MPlayer using the following command:

	 $ mplayer -vo x11 -ao oss:/dev/dsp

Each time I do this, I get the help message. How do I start MPlayer? Does
MPlayer play MPEG?, MOV and AVI files?
