[Mplayer-users] cannot play DV from my camcorder

My system:

XFree86 Version 4.0.3 / X Window System
AMD 700Mhz
Matrox GP400
using -vo xv and -vo x11 (cannot get -vo xmga to work)

My problem
----------------------------
I cannot play DV (type2) files from my camcorder (but aviplay will)
I have the qdv.dll in my /usr/lib/win32 directory

Whey I play the file I get all black but I can hear the audio.  
I think the relevant output is that it says 
VIDEO:  [dvsd]  720x480  24bpp  30.00 fps  29184.0 kbps (3562.5 kbyte/s)
but then says below:
Detected video codec: [null] drv:0 (NULL codec (no decoding))

:-(

Can anyone help?
